Chris Joss is a french self-taught multi-instrumentalist and studio producer. In 1999, Chris Joss released his first LP "The Man With A Suitcase", a imaginary soundtrack of 60's TV series whose the title-track is featured in the movie trailer of Ocean's 13. Chris Joss recreate this time, the atmosphere of the typical sound from the seventies. Sadao Watanabe is one most famous Japanese Jazz Giant, saxophonist, multi-instrumentalist arranger & composer best known as the man who introduced Bossa Nova in Japan. He's surrounded by great musicians featuring some great sideman for Miles Davis : Chick Corea, Miroslav Vitous & Jack DeJohnette. In 1962, Sadao moved to Boston to study at the Berklee College of Music and later played with Chico Hamilton, Gary McFarland, Lee Ritenour, Dave Grusin or Hank Jones. Then he explored music all over the world reflecting his Brazilian & African inspirations on his work to become the japanese representative of Bossa Nova and and more broadly of World Music as Joe Zawinul. In 1967, Sadao recorded two Latin Jazz albums with Charlie Mariano, Iberian Waltz/Nabesada & Charlie and the following year, We Got A New Bag with various Indian influences.  All tracks composed, arranged by Sadao & produced by Kiyoshi Itoh.

Essential, unforgettable & most valuable rare groove LP, Sounds Of Sound L.T.D. is a classic from the Japanese Jazz Rock scene, recorded by the great jazz drummer, Takeshi Inomata. Inomata is one of the best known japanese jazz musicians, born into a musical family, who, under the influence of his brother and after have heard the Gene Krupa performance on Sing, Sing, Sing by Benny Goodman, decided him to become professional drummer. In the early sixties, he was enrolled in the Hidehiko Matsumoto Quintet, played several times for Helen Merrill (In Tokyo '63, Plaisir D'amour '69, Sings The Beatles '70), with Teddy Wilson, Hiroshi Suzuki, in the Mal Waldron Trio and later, was sideman for pianist Norio Maeda (in groups Norio Maeda Trio, The Wind-Breakers in 1978). In the late sixties, he formed The Sound Limited Jazz Rock group based on his previous band, The West Liners, with some of its members featuring Toshiaki Yokota, Jun Suzuki, Ryo Kawasaki, Takashi Imai & the young Shunzo Ohno. Titles includes psychedelic grooves, Big Band sessions, great solo flute, organ & drum strong beat on Mustache (which ends by the Hey Jude chorus), the massive and dynamic funky Joint, the psychedelic rock Tak's Tune and the melodic jazz, Monster.

Sonia Rosa With Yuji Ohno - Spiced With Brazil

Sonia Rosa recorded her first album with Chiquinho De Moraes in 1967, before she left Brazil for Japan at the age of 20 years old, Spice With Brazil is her best-known album. She had the opportunity to sing on various Yuji Ohno's albums as Space Kid (1978) and more recently, on original soundtrack of TV Special 'Lupin III Episode 0 First Contact' (2002), whose some songs will appear later on Lupin The Third [JAZZ] : Bossa & Fusion album. She's surrounded by a large ensemble of musicians featuring future members of You & The Explosion Band (Akira Okazawa, Larry Sunaga, Pepe Anai, Tsunehide Matsuki), plus backing vocals supported by Time Five. To approximate the typical sound of the famous Bossa Nova productions released under the Verve label during the sixties, Ohno recruited a set of string instruments gathered in the Ohno Group and conducted by himself. Titles include classics of Bossa Nova from Antonio Carlos Jobim, Luiz Bonfa, Chico Buarque & Edu Lobo, jazz standard of Jimmy Van Heusen (Here's That Rainy Day) and pop covers by James Taylor (Don't Let Me Be Lonely Tonight) and Linda Creed (You Make Me Feel Brand New). Others titles include also some solo performances by Tsuyoshi Yamamoto with great piano improvisations, alongside Ohno, on the classic of Edu Lobo, Casa Forte (and Sonia Rosa's scat singing likewise). Akira Ishikawa Count Buffalo Jazz And Rock Band - Bakishinba

The legendary drummer Akira Ishikawa & his Count Buffalos, were prolific on the japanese Jazz Rock scene from the late sixties to the early seventies. Best known as the bandleader for the Japanese version of rock musical ‘Hair’ from Broadway, he was also an active member of various japanese Jazz formations as Ace 7 or the famous 'Freedom Unity' quintet featuring pianist Hiromasa Suzuki, saxophonist Takeru Muraoka, bassist Kunimitsu Inaba and trombonist Hiroshi Suzuki. Akira Ishikawa started in the mid-fifties  when he joined the Akira Miyazawa's Modern All Stars and later the New Herd conducted by saxophonist Toshiyuki Miyama. After after a trip in eastern Africa, Akira introduced several traditional Afro-percussions in his music, in order to create a clever fusion between Jazz, Rock & Soul, in which african sounds were added as evidenced Bakishinba - Memories Of Africa with the African Deer suite. This orientation which will reach its apogee with the cult album, 'Uganda', released in 1972, all in collaboration of Norio Maeda & Hiromasa Suzuki in charge of arrangements. Titles include Sandstorm & Sunrise composed by M. Yoshino, Flamingo & African Deer by Norio Maeda, Bakishinba, Mirage & Blue Soul by Hiromasa Suzuki. Rare & cult collectible LP of the quebecois Robert Charlebois, is the most well-known songwritter, poet, singer & musician from Montréal. He started on stage in 1962 and released his first single La Boulée in 1965. In 1967, he left Canada to California where he met several american Rock&Roll artists & band like Frank Zappa and discovered the psychedelism which will revolutionize his vision of music. In 1969, he caused a scandal when he played at Olympia in Paris, performed later at Festival Pop of Toronto and the same year he take the Pancanadian train with Janis Joplin, The Band, The Grateful Dead & others. Robert Charlebois plays featuring Le Quatuor du Jazz Libre du Québec & Louise Forestier plus Philipe Gagnon. Eric Burdon Declares ''War''

In 1969, Eric Burdon left The Animals and joined the californian Funk/Blues band War. The band released two albums and published one B-Sides compilation in 1976, before Eric left the group. The album starts with The Vision of Rassan, a tribute to the great multi-saxophonist, the jazzman Rahsaan Roland Kirk followed by Tobacco Road which told us the history of the Afro-American slaves way. Others titles include Spill The Wine which appears on Paul Thomas Anderson's movie Boogie Night and was covered by jazz guitarist, Melvin Sparks, another tribute for Memphis Slim & the short track You're No Stranger. On the back cover is printed : "We the people have declared war against the people for the right to love each other". Bingo Miki And Inner Galaxy Orchestra - Back To The Sea

Back To The Sea is a project to the cinematic concept created by Bingo Miki and recorded on the cult label Three Blind Mice (equivalent of CTI records in Japan). It performed by a large Big Band based on 28 musicians gathered in three sections (brass, reeds & rhythm), including some Japanese Jazz Giants as Hidehiko Matsumoto, Masao Suzuki Kenji Mori, Masaru Imada or Himiko Kikuchi. On Back To The Sea (Epilogue), note the presence of famous pop/jazz vocalist Mari Nakamoto who recorded Unforgetable! (1973) & Little Girl Blue (1974) with the Shoji Yokouchi Trio on the same label. At Montreux Jazz Festival in 1979, The Inner Galaxy Orchestra was surrounded by trumpetist Jon Faddis, trombonist Bob Brookmeyer, guitarist Joe Beck and bassist Richard Davis. The project mix Contempory Jazz tracks & Fusion Jazz Funk all arranged, composed and conducted by Bingo Miki.

Nigen No Shomei is a nippon-cop movie directed by Yusaku Matsuda and released in 1977. The soundtrack was recorded in 1976 and performed by the Yuji Ohno' Jazz Funk band : You & The Explosion Band supported by the strings of the Minoru Suzuki Group. Compilation of unreleased tracks by cult French Jazz-Funk band from the seventies formed around producer/arranger Alain Mion & drummer/percussionist Alain Gandolfi. Cortex recorded several singles for Sonodisc and released their most famous work 'Troupeau Bleu' (Disques Espérence) in 1975 with Jean Grevet, Jean-Claude D'Agostini, Jo Pucheu, Alain Labib & Mireille Dalbray. Their sound is between The Headhunters, Herbie Hancock & Roy Ayers and their influences were Earth Wind & Fire, George Benson, Al Jarreau. Many samples were taken by several artists such as J.Dilla. The Line-up incorporates additional musician Emma Welsby on percussions and special guest Mike Davis from British jazz rock band of the seventies The Keef Hartley Band. Shing02 - Wankyoku

For this project, Shing02 is involved in the Kosmic Renaissance group formed with  David Boyce & Sameer Gupta (influenced by Elvin Jones & Tony Williams) featuring Ajo, additionals musicians and chorus. No sample is used and the band practice several instruments as shakukachi, various forms of keyboards, strings and others traditional japanese instruments (as biwa or shamisen). Titles includes the Far East folklore music, Bijou suite, a good Hip Hop cuisine with Funk, Reggae & Dub flavor (Saikou or  Chotsugai), Jazz ingredients associated to Spoken Words, Japanese Folklore and Poetry. Shingo Annen is a japanese activist MC, multi instrumentalist, rapper, poet & songwriter who raised in Tanzania, England, Japan and in San Francisco where he became involved in various creative arts programs. He's well-known as Shing02 name and his work with japanese beatmaker Nujabes. He was discovered outside Japan in Samourai Champloo OST with the openning theme 'Battelcry'.
